History

Bifodan was founded in 1992 with the clear objective to be a specialized provider of innovative probiotic solutions to the pharmaceutical and dietary supplement industries.

The founding company, Enigheden, was the oldest Danish dairy cooperative, whose history dates back to 1897.

Enigheden was the first Danish dairy to work with the concepts of probiotics, and launched its first dairy product with probiotics in 1938 under the brandname of A-38^®.

Driven by a sharp focus on research, application and manufacturing of probiotic, Bifodan has evolved into a leading European provider of customized and innovative probiotic solutions, with a growing international customer base of pharmaceutical and dietary supplement companies.
